Last month's Holocaust spotlight survivor was Anne Frank. Although she sadly died, her spirit lives on and she is one of the most influential people still today.

Anne Frank

Everybody knows who she is. She is one of Hitler's most famous victims. Anne Frank. Here is the short summary of her life....

Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929. She was an outgoing, typical teenage girl. She was a German Jew. On her birthday, she received a diary that she called Kitty. She wrote in it often. The Holocaust then forced her to go into hiding with her family. Her family consisted of her sister, Margot, her dad, Otto, and her mother, Edith. Also hiding with them was the van Pels family and a dentist named Mr. Pfeffer. They hid in the back of a wherehouse where Otto Frank worked. One of their helpers was Miep Gies. Anne kept her diary while in hiding and filled the pages. On August 4, 1944, they were arrested and deported to Westerbork transit camp. From there, they were then seperated at Auschwitz. After that, Anne and her sister were sent to Bergen-Belsen where they died within days of each other of typhus. 7 of the 8 members that were in hiding died. The only survivor was Anne's dad. He found Anne's diary and published it. It is now one of the best selling books in the world (next to the Bible)
